When two-feet and four-feet meet, it often leads to unpleasant misunderstandings - the cow makes moohhh & the human fails to recognise it.
It's summer! Cows graze on the pastures and are actually quite peaceful animals.
The hiker loves the mountains and enjoys his free time in refreshing nature, he too is more than peaceful.
And still it happens! Attack situation!
Who is in fault is a matter of opinion, but the fact is that the cow certainly can't be changed,
humans and animals speak different languages.
Follow a few simple tips and the cow won't care a thing whether you wander across her pasture or not:
- Keep a safe distance, do not feed grazing animals, do not stroke grazing animals and beware: not every four-legged friend is a horse! We do not try to ride them!
- Don't scare any grazing animals, just walk past them quietly and inconspicuously!
- Mother cows protect their calves just as mothers protect their children in everyday life. Always keep your distance and keep a double distance with dogs!
- As soon as grazing animals are sighted, dogs must be kept on a short lead. If an attack by a grazing animal is imminent, let go of the lead and protect yourself - your dog will run faster than you!
- Stay on the designated hiking paths!
- Grazing cattle always have right of way. If they are on the footpath, leave the path for once and give them a wide berth!
- When approaching grazing cattle, never turn your back, walk slowly backwards and do not let the cattle out of your sight!
- If a grazing animal appears nervous, do not even enter the grazing area!
- Fences are, among other things, a warning sign. The grazing area is only crossed if there is a gate, and this will be carefully closed again after passing through.
- Please always treat animals and nature with respect!
